Prince Andrew: ‘Palace needs to shut him down!’ Queen must take action to protect monarchy - Express

Royal expert Jennie Bond argued the Palace has not yet done enough to reduce the damage to the royal family following his interview about his relationship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The Duke of York stepped back from his royal duties earlier this week. He has also parted company with a number of charities and organisations since the interview was aired.

Ms Bond said more needed to be done and noted the Queen and other royals would have a vital role in protecting the monarchy.

Ms Bond said on LBC: “It is extremely damaging.

“I don’t think the Palace has yet done enough in regards to the damage limitation exercise, they have to do more.

“I think the Palace have to shut him down.

“Again, I was gobsmacked to find this he was still apparently planning a trip to Bahrain for a big junket.

“He doesn’t seem to be very self-aware, he has never suffered from great self-awareness.

“So the Palace needs to make him take an absolute back step I think for the foreseeable future, certainly the next year.

“I think the only thing the Queen can do is to continue her very good work that we all appreciate.

Prince Andrew said in a statement earlier this week: "It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family's work and the valuable work going on in the many organisations and charities that I am proud to support.

"Therefore, I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission.

"I continue to unequivocally regret my ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein.

"His suicide has left many unanswered questions, particularly for his victims, and I deeply sympathise with everyone who has been affected and wants some form of closure.

"I can only hope that, in time, they will be able to rebuild their lives. Of course, I am willing to help any appropriate law enforcement agency with their investigations, if required."
